Introduction

The 80s Server, an ever-growing web site on the Internet, was created in March 1995. The brainchild of a college student who was shocked at the lack of '80s-related resources on the Internet, this site soared to popularity.

Today, The 80s Server has evolved into one of the top web sites on the Internet. Thousands of people visit daily to hear their favorite '80s songs, compete against other web surfers in trivia games, research the history of the decade, or just meet people whose interests lie almost entirely in our not-so-distant past.

This site brings back the music, movies, fashions, and historic events that the "Children of the Eighties" so strongly identify with. Though there are many sites on the Internet, many twenty-somethings consider The 80s Server to be their "home." This is evidenced by the stories done about The '80s Server by National Public Radio, The Associated Press, The Denver Post, The Detroit Free Press, MTV and more!

Psychographics

Consumers in their late teens through their 20s are on the leading edge of a demographic wave that will wash over the U.S. during the next two decades, transforming the culture and economy. Consequently, as their spending power and influence swell, they'll change the way marketers of everything from soft drinks to cars do business in the coming years.

This particular group was molded by the social revolutions of the past two decades and is far different from the post-World War II generations of the Baby Boom and the Baby Bust. Just like their predecessors, this target is a source of new demands and tastes. In terms of numbers, this market is not the largest; however, in terms of opportunity to make long-term customers, it is strategically the most important market. The key is to build brand awareness with this target so they will become loyal customers in the future.
