The Movies of 1988
"Who Framed Roger Rabbit"? Well, movie-goers in 1988 learned who it was. Some of those same people may have ventured into the much-protested "The Last Temptation of Christ" in which Willem Dafoe played Jesus Christ. A majority went in to see Tom Hanks in the smash hit "Big" directed by Laverne herself, Penny Marshall. John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline, and Michael Palin told us the story of "A Fish Called Wanda" -- a wickedly deviant film that pokes fun at just about everything. Funny man Bruce Willis took on Alan Rickman in the action-thriller "Die Hard" (yippe-ki-ya, @^%&^ @&*^*!) and Glenn Close played games with John Malkovich who played games with Michelle Pfieffer in "Dangerous Liaisons." And the world fell in love with a quirky little man who loved "The People's Court" as Dustin Hoffman brought to life Raymond, the "Rain Man."
